Wallace - Guy V. Alen, 71, died at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the home of Zula Gaines which is located a mile south of here. He had lived at the Gaines resident the past 13 years. Born March 23, 1889, near Wallace, he was a son of Thomas and Elvira Riley Allen. He was married in 1910 to Oda Daniels. Mr. Allen was educated in the Morgan and Wallace schools and was a member of the Prarie Creek Chapel Baptist Church. He lived here for a number of years befor moving to Veedersburg to work at the brickyard. He then moved to Montezuma where he worked in the coal mines. He later farmed in the Bloomingdale, Mecca and Lexington communites. He returned to Wallace 13 years ago. Surviving are four sons, Garnet of Madison, Ellis of Scottsburg, Virgil of Comiskey and David of Indianapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Craig of Austin, Mrs. Corrine Speece of Anderson and Mrs. Valeria Everhart of Brownstown; three brothers, Jesse of Wallace, Morris of Hedrick, Ill and Ralph of Williamsport, a sister, Mrs. Theo Wright of Fairmount, Ill; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virgie and a brother, Charlie. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Harry Hybarger, pastor of Prairie Creek Baptist Church in charge. Burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conduted at 4:30. Friends may call at the funeral home.
